Situated in the beautiful city of San Francisco, SF State's School of Engineering has served as an incubator and provider of technical talents that power the Bay Area and California's economies since 1959. The School currently offers three Master of Science in Engineering degrees in (i) civil engineering (MSCE), (ii) electrical and computer engineering (MSECE), and (iii) mechanical engineering (MSME). Each of these programs is designed with the goals of cultivating technical leaders that serve the needs of the San Francisco Bay Area industry and beyond.
Our rich offerings of advanced engineering courses aim to deepen our students' core technical knowledge, broaden their professional perspectives, and enhance their management and communication skills. And, coupled with the choice of a variety of non-engineering electives, students could develop individualized course plans that best suit their professional aspirations. In addition, the non-sequential structure of our graduate courses allows students to enroll in courses in their specialty and interest areas in a flexible manner. All of our courses are scheduled in the evenings for the convenience of our students, many of whom are full-time working professionals. We take great pride in our small class sizes and one-on-one supervised research, which enable the development of close and meaningful relationships among students and faculty.
Our highly regarded faculty team, comprised of first-rate academicians and veteran industry practitioners, brings cutting-edge research and an abundance of industry experiences into the classrooms. The diverse technical specialty and research interests of our faculty offer a variety of research opportunities in both basic and applied research that tackle contemporary problems faced by the local high-tech industries. Such training leads to robust employment opportunities for our students and makes them highly competitive for top-ranked doctorate programs.
