On Wednesday, May 3, 2022, the College of Science and Engineering hosted their annual research competition for undergrads and graduate students majoring in Astronomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, Geosciences, Geography, Math, Physics and Psychology. Students were able to share their research projects and win prize money for the winning project, with projects ranging from Face Mask Sanitizers, to a High-Rise Wastewater Energy Recovery System.
First place was awarded to Armando Cobian, Justin Hannen, and Gerank Fok for their Chess Bot, a product that allows its users to use a real chess board to play against a computer player. Learn more about their project here.
Second place was awarded to Hayden Seto, Chris Sakurada, and Mitchell Bergman for their Project Foresight, a system that increases cyclist and motorist awareness to reduce the number of cyclist fatalities. Learn more about their project here.
Third place was awarded to Andre Corrales, JunJie Li, and Jashua Tamsi Villajin for their Stable Spoon, a utensil to help those who have lost their fine motor skills or suffer with hand tremors. Learn more about their project here.
