Biography

Dr. Kenya Z. Mejia joined San Francisco State University in 2024 as a faculty member in mechanical engineering. Dr. Mejia’s current research focuses interrogating engineering cultural norms that create barriers to inclusion for underrepresented students. She is also interested in using Engineering Design to create stronger curricular ties between engineering science and the social impact of technology and its development. Dr. Mejia’s work takes a participatory approach, including community members in the research design, development, and implementation process.
