Biography

Alexandre Miot joined San Francisco State University in 2019 as a lecturer faculty. He brings more than 15 years of experience in wastewater treatment operation, engineering and R&D, working for utilities in both France & the United States. He currently works for the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission Wastewater Enterprise, where he leads the process engineering section. His team of engineers and researchers focuses on developing methods to optimize wastewater treatment, increase processes efficiency and further reduce the impact of waste on the environment by recovering the resources it contains. Over the years, he has mentored more than 30 interns and young professionals and has provided training to hundreds of wastewater operators. He was a consultant for the Office of Water Programs and contributed to the 8th edition of one of their most popular training manual: Operation of Wastewater Treatment Plant Volume 1. His work is often selected for conferences and he has been a member of the WEFTEC research and innovation symposium.
