Dr. Yuan-Hung Paul Tan is specialized in Hydrodynamics, Environmental Fluid Mechanics (EFM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Coastal and Ocean Engineering, and Urban Hydrology. He was born on Dec. 24, 1970, in Taipei, Taiwan and obtained his B.S. degree in Agricultural Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU) on 1993. Then he obtained his M.S. degree in Civil Engineering, emphasized on Environmental Fluid Mechanics and Hydrology (EFMH), from Stanford University on 1996. Prior to pursing his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from University of Southern California (USC) on 2005, he was a Geologic and Geotechnical Engineer from 1996 to 2003 and was a Hydrologic and Hydraulic Engineer on 2004 in Southern California. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from University of Southern California (USC) on 2010 under the supervision of Dr. Jiin-Jen Lee. The title of His Ph.D. Dissertation is Oscillations of Semi-Enclosed Water Body Induced by Hurricanes due to the occurrence of Hurricane Katrina on 2005. Dr. Tan is a Professional Civil Engineer (P.E.) at the State of California.
