Biography

David Quintero jointed San Francisco State University in August 2018 as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He was a research assistant in the Department of Mechanical and Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Dallas. His doctoral research includes design and real-time control of a robotic leg for above-knee amputees. Prior to his doctoral work, he spent a few years as a robotics and controls engineer at various companies including some within the Bay Area. His research goals are to improve the quality of life for humans with limitedmobility and to enhance mobility for humans in healthy conditions by way of designing and controlling novel electromechanical devices. His current research interestsinclude design of hybrid actuators for wearable robots, rehabilitation engineering, biomechanics, assistive robotics, controls,and biomechatronic systems.
