Tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions in Mechanical Engineering

The School of Engineering at San Francisco State University invites applicants for two tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions in Mechanical Engineering, beginning August 2018.

The School seeks individuals with a background in mechatronics or fluid mechanics. However, candidates in all Mechanical Engineering fields will be considered. For one of the available positions we seek to hire a faculty member who will actively contribute to our M.S. degree program in Energy Systems.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field. Candidates should have an active record of scholarship related to their specialty area and a strong background in both teaching and research. Additional desired qualifications include post-doctoral and/or industrial experience and a strong potential for securing external funding. Preferred candidates should have experience teaching and/or mentoring women and students from underrepresented groups and a commitment to diversification in the discipline.

The position requires graduate and undergraduate teaching in Mechanical Engineering, mentoring and advising graduate and undergraduate students, curriculum and laboratory development, establishing an active ongoing research program in the area of expertise , and ongoing committee and service assignments within the School of Engineering, the College of Science & Engineering, and the University. Rank and salary:
Assistant Professor and Associate Professor are both tenure-track positions. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, accomplishment, and research leadership (potential or actual). The CSU provides generous health, retirement and other benefits.
