Biography
Dr. Tarakji received his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering from Clemson University, in 19983. He holds an M.E. degree from the University of Florida and a B.E. degree from the American University of Beirut. He is currently Professor of Civil Engineering in the School of Engineering, San Francisco State University. His research interests focus on roadway engineering and management, project control, life-cycle analysis, and sustainable construction. Dr. Tarakji's research has been funded by the California Department of Transportation / the U.S. Federal Highway Administration, AT&T (formerly Pacific Bell), the City and County of San Francisco, and the California Public Utilities Commission. Furthermore, he has been engaged as an expert witness on numerous court cases, and has taught numerous professional development courses in his areas of expertise. He has published numerous academic papers in refereed journal or conference proceedings. He is a registered Professional Engineer in California. Dr. Tarakji has performed pioneering research in the area of pavement management that has been cited in the United States Senate and in numerous court cases.
