MESA ENGINEERING PROGRAM (MEP) SCHOLARSHIP for MEP Students

DESCRIPTION:
The MESA Engineering Scholarship was created to recognize, encourage and promote the success of MEP students attending School of Engineering at San Francisco State. It was created by HITACHI America Ltd. and other supporters of SFSU/MEP. Several Academic and Leadership Scholarship will be awarded annually. Scholarship will be announced at the Engineering Banquet in May.

ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants must be enrolled and eligible members of MEP at SFSU. An updated MEP enrollment form must be on file with MEP. Applicants must be declared engineering majors. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and non-graduating seniors are eligible to complete. A minimum 2.5 overall GPA is required for Academic Scholarship and a minimum 2.0 for Leadership Scholarships.

SELECTION CRITERIA:
A committee of representatives from industry and MEP Director will select the winner. The award will be made to several students who have shown high academic achievement and has also demonstrated significant service to the MEP or School of Engineering and Computer Science.

TO APPLY, SUBMIT THE FOLLOWING:
Application form; available from and due to the MEP Office, SCI 251A., or the Engineering Office, SCI 163.

  • Resume
  • An essay

    Essay format: the essay must:

    • include cover page
    • Typed double spaced
    • Font size will not exceed 10pt type
    • At least 1 full page and no more than 2 pages (excluding cover page)
    • The applicants' name and student ID should appear only on the cover page
    • Essay should include at least one reference to publication
    • Essay Topic: Why You Chose to Major in Engineering
