  4. Will I get financial assistance?
    No, but there may be scholarships that you may be eligible for.
  5. What is the average cost per year of study?
    The fee differs for resident and nonresident students. The cost is divided into tuition fees and the fee for total number of units taken up. The tuition fee varies depending on whether you are a full time student (> 6.0 units) or a part time student (<6.0 units).

  7. How long does it take to complete a degree?
    It takes a minimum of 1.5 years if you plan your course work well.
  8. What if my application is incomplete on the due date?
    Your application should be submitted online before the university deadline. Supporting documents, letters of recommendation and test scores may be submitted to school of engineering within a few weeks after the deadline.
  9. Is there a minimum grade point average for admission?
    Yes, a GPA of 3.0 (in last 60 semester units or 90 quarter units) is required.
  10. How do I check my admission status?
    After submission of an online application, you will receive a user id (SID) and password via mail. Once you receive this information you can login at MySFSU to check your application status.
  11. When are decisions made regarding admissions?
    The decision for the admission is made once all the required documents are received and reviewed. Once the decision for the admission is made, you will be informed by the admission office
  12. I have been conditionally accepted with some prerequisite courses. If I think I have already met these prerequisites requirement what should I do?
    You can talk to graduate program coordinator and proof would be required to verify that the prerequisite was successfully completed. The final decision is made by the graduate program coordinator.
  13. Can I defer my enrollment?
    No, if the student does not enroll in the semester admitted, he/she needs to reapply again and resubmit all the documents if reapplication is beyond one semester.
  14. What if I decide not to join SFSU?
    It is recommended, (especially international students) that you notify the respective graduate office of your plans.
  15. How do I get the email account / SFSU ID?
    After submitting your application form, you will receive ane-mail from San Francisco State University Admission Office, with a student ID and password. You will use these credentials to accessthe mySFSU page.
