GE for Engineering Students Entering In and After Fall 2014

 

Engineering students (Native and Transfer students) who were admitted into SFSU Engineering in and after Fall 2014 are required to complete courses in Areas A, B, C, D, and UD below, in addition to satisfying the 5 SFSU Requirements LLD, AERM, SJ, GP, and ES.

Native students, also known as First-Time Freshmen, refer to students who started as freshmen at SFSU.

 

1. Area A(12 units minimum): English Language Communication and Critical Thinking

2. Area B (9 units minimum): Scientific Inquiry and Quantitative Reasoning

3. Area C (9 units minimum): Arts and Humanities

- Native students must complete one class EACH in: (i) C1, (ii) C3, and (iii) either C1 or C2.

- Transfer students must complete one class EACH in: (i) C1, (ii) C2, and (iii) either C1, C2 or C3.

Additional LLD, AERM, SJ, GP, and ES Requirements:

1. Students are required to satisfy EACH of the following FIVE Requirements ONCE by classes taken in Areas A, B, C, D, or UD:

3. [ES]: Environmental Sustainability                                        5. [SJ]: Social Justice

Special Notes:

* Indicates “no additional courses are required”, as the required classes in the Area is “Met in Major” with a non-GE course approved for Engineering majors. Engineering students have 12 units of GE covered either by “Met in the Major” or GE approved Engineering courses. 36 units of GE are required outside of the Engineering coursework.
